Reiki is a form of alternative therapy commonly referred to as energy healing. It originated in Japan in the early 20th century and was developed by Mikao Usui. The term "Reiki" comes from the Japanese words "rei" (universal) and "ki" (life energy). Practitioners believe that by channeling universal life energy through their hands, they can promote physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.
During a Reiki session, the practitioner places their hands lightly on or just above the recipient's clothed body in various positions. It is believed that this helps to clear blockages and balance the energy flow within the body, which can aid in relaxation, reduce stress, and support overall well-being. Reiki is often used as a complementary therapy alongside conventional medical treatments. While scientific evidence supporting its efficacy is limited, many individuals report feeling more relaxed and having a sense of improved well-being after receiving Reiki.
